OVERVIEW

Learn about the concept and practice of reducing disaster risks through systematically analyzing and managing the causal factors of disasters in this 3-day, face-to-face training course. The training examines reducing exposure to hazards, lessening the vulnerability of people and property, wisely managing land and the environment, and improving preparedness for adverse events.

  • Describe the importance of using a participatory approach throughout the disaster management cycle.

The course is designed to benefit field practitioner staff of INGOs, NGOs, CBOs, and government department staff responsible for disaster risk reduction. Some knowledge and experience in humanitarianism and disaster risk reduction are presumed.
