Course Background

Globally, millions of people still lack access to electricity and clean cooking fuels,
perpetuating poverty and inequality. Achieving universal energy access requires more than
technology—it demands integrated solutions that combine renewable energy, behavioral change,
economics, and strong community engagement.

ECAS Institute offers this two-week course to explore the meaning of energy access and
practical strategies for overcoming persistent challenges. The course emphasizes locally
grounded solutions that empower communities to transition toward renewable energy in line
with Sustainable Development Goal 7 (SDG 7).
