ECAS Hosts Climate Finance Training for Gambia Delegates in Nairobi

From May 12th to 23rd, 2025, ECAS Institute hosted a focused Climate Finance Capacity Building Workshop in Nairobi, Kenya, for six officials from the Ministry of Finance and Economic Affairs in The Gambia. The training aimed to strengthen participants’ knowledge on budgeting, tracking, and accessing climate finance, equipping them with the tools needed to support climate-resilient economic planning in their country.

Equipping the Frontline of Climate Finance

Led by ECAS’s team of seasoned experts, the training offered a deep dive into climate finance fundamentals. From budgeting and climate policy alignment to access, tracking, and reporting of climate funds, participants explored the full spectrum of tools needed to strengthen national financial systems in the face of climate change

Field Visits

To bridge classroom learning with real-world experience, the delegates embarked on two transformative field visits. At Kenyatta University, they engaged with researchers and students working on climate adaptation projects within the academic space. The visit illustrated the role of innovation and education in shaping climate solutions.
Later in the week, the team visited the United Nations Office at Nairobi, where they toured and explored how global organizations support and track climate finance implementation across the continent. Our participants gained valuable insight into how international frameworks connect with national action.

Building Connections Beyond Borders

Throughout the training, participants not only gained technical skills but also engaged in rich peer-to-peer interactions, open discussions, and collaborative exercises that deepened their understanding and built lasting professional relationships. The informal moments over coffee breaks, during field visits, and in post-session reflections offered space for cross-cultural exchange and networking.

A Celebration of Growth and Purpose

The training concluded with a heartfelt graduation ceremony, where each participant was awarded a Certificate of Completion, a symbol of their dedication and readiness to champion climate finance back home. As a special gesture, the ECAS team presented customized gift hampers to each delegate, adding a warm, personal touch to the closing.
