International Training on Green Economy and Trade
Harnessing Trade for Sustainable and Inclusive Growth
Course Background
World trade patterns have evolved considerably, with many developing countries becoming
increasingly active players in global markets. However, least developed countries (LDCs)
remain marginalized, contributing less than 1% of global trade and relying heavily on raw
material exports.
The transition toward an inclusive green economy offers an opportunity to diversify
economies, enhance value addition, and reduce vulnerability to economic and environmental
shocks. Rising demand for environmental goods and sustainable products creates new green
trade opportunities.
In a post-COVID-19 recovery context, green trade is central to resilient and climate-aware
development. This course equips stakeholders with tools to identify, design, and scale
green trade initiatives.
