Carbon Markets and Emissions Trading Training in Naivasha, Kenya
ECAS Institute, in partnership with the National Environment Trust Fund (NETFUND), held a 5-day training on Carbon Markets and Emissions Trading in Naivasha. The program brought together professionals from diverse sectors to build their capacity in climate finance, carbon governance, and sustainable development strategies. The training began with an introduction to climate change, setting the stage for deeper discussions on carbon markets. Beyond its natural beauty, Olkaria serves as a living example of clean energy innovation and carbon emissions reduction in action. The visit allowed participants to see firsthand how geothermal power contributes to Kenya’s carbon credits and low-carbon development goals.
The training ended on a high note with a closing ceremony where certificates were awarded to all participants in recognition of their active engagement and completion of the program. The ceremony highlighted the importance of continued collaboration and knowledge exchange in scaling up carbon market readiness in Kenya. Through this initiative, ECAS and NETFUND reinforced their shared commitment to empowering climate professionals and supporting Kenya’s leadership in carbon markets across Africa.
