COURSE BACKGROUND

The transition towards a sustainable and low-carbon economy is essential for addressing global environmental challenges such as climate change, biodiversity loss, and resource depletion. Green growth and the green economy provide pathways for economic development that is environmentally sustainable, socially inclusive, and resilient. At the same time, a just transition ensures that workers, communities, and vulnerable groups are not left behind in this transformation.

This course, offered by the Environmental Capacities and Sustainability (ECAS) Institute, provides a comprehensive understanding of green growth strategies, the principles of a green economy, and the policies needed for a just transition. Participants will explore how economic systems can shift towards sustainability while ensuring social equity and job creation.

Through expert-led sessions, case studies, and interactive exercises, participants will develop the skills and knowledge required to integrate green growth strategies into national and sectoral policies while ensuring a fair and just transition for all.
